Martin Hall: Martin Hall here with Five Star Golf Mats. We've got the Perfect ReAction mat here. It's 1 and 3/4 of an inch thick, the closest thing to hitting off grass I have ever seen. I've got Chris with me, a fine player indeed. How's the game?
Chris: Good.
Martin Hall: Good. Would you like a drill that's going to help you matter how well you’re playing?
Chris: Sure.
Martin Hall: Good. It's called the L390. I want you to mimic me as you stand on that mat. I'm going to have you take a swing and swing back till your lead arm gets about parallel to the ground. That makes a letter L. Can you see that in your mind? It makes a letter L.
Chris: Yeah.
Martin Hall: I'm going to have you swing through until the club gets parallel to the ground on the other side. If there was a clock face here, this would be 6:00. Just stay where you were. This would be 6:00, this would be 5:00, 4:00, this would be 3:00. So there's an L and there's a 3:00. And the 90 part is: we're going to take a club that you would normally hit about 130 yards, but I'm going to ask you to hit it 90. So, let's have one practice swing. I'm going to put some governors in here, stop your lead arm just before it hits this. Stop your club just before it hits the other. That's the L390. We've got a club that could hit it 130 yard, we're hitting it 90. It's a fantastic drill to learn the heart and soul of the golf swing. To sharpen up how the clubs beating the ball at the bottom, the L390. Here we go. Extremely good shot! As you can see, uh, that actually landed on the line. So you can see there, if you did the L390, it's going to help you a lot. Are you going to do a lot of that?
Chris: Yes.
Martin Hall: Yes, I'm very pleased to hear that. And I hope you do a lot of it as well! It will definitely help you.
