Martin Hall: Martin Hall here with Five Star Golf Mats. I'm on the octagon tee with my friend Stacy. How is your golf game?
Stacy: It's good.
Martin Hall: Good! I've been teaching you for how long?
Stacy: About 10 years.
Martin Hall: About 10 years and she's become a very good player. Look, this mat comes with two rubber tees, an adjustable wood tee holder, and a ball tray. So it's great for hitting balls inside, great for hitting balls outside into a net or such like that. I want to talk to you about something we've mentioned many times. I've taught you a thing or two have I not?
Stacy: Yeah, quite a few.
Martin Hall: Yeah, so the great Earl Woods taught Tiger: “Yes you can hit the ball as hard as you want.” You like to hit it hard, don't you?
Stacy: Yes.
Martin Hall: Yes, everybody does. The two things that Earl Woods taught tiger was: you can hit it as hard as you want as long as you hit it right in the middle of the club, and you can keep your balance at the finish. And so I've taught you, from a very young age, that when you finish the swing you've got to be as still as a…
Stacy: Statue.
Martin Hall: Still as a statue. Do statues move around very much?
Stacy: No.
Martin Hall: No, they don't. They hold it, hold it, hold it. That's our little count to the end. So I want you to make a practice swing for me, a little drill. You can swing hard, but you've got to get to the end. Statue! Hold it, hold it, hold it. Now, the next swing I want you to say out loud so the microphone picks it up. You know what you've got to say. Swing through.
Stacy: Hold it, hold it, hold it.
Martin Hall: Good. Now, I want you to hit the golf ball exactly the same. Terrific discipline to do, to learn to hit hard but still maintain some control. Still as a statue: hold it, hold it, hold it. A beautiful go shot with beautiful balance at the finish of the swing. I think you've got some game, you know!
Stacy: Yeah.
Martin Hall: So, from Earl Wood to Tiger: finish on balance, hold it, hold it, hold it. That is going to help.
