Now, the drill I'm going to give you today – one of my favorites – I call it the heartbeat of the golf swing.
How do we get to have a correct, sort of, look at impact? Best drill I know for this – take your normal setup, then pose or rehearse what you would think would be the perfect impact position. What would that be? The weight would be forward, the hips would be turned, the hands would be forward, the right elbow would be down by the hip, face would be square. Setup, impact. That's part one of the drill – get in a good place at impact. Part two is you would go one, two, now you can see I'm not moving the legs. I'm not changing out of impact mode here. So I get into impact position – I'm going to go one, two, three, and then on the fourth one I'm going to hit it.
So let me put it in live time mode for you, how I would use it to get all those good impact alignments and paint a super clear picture in your mind of how to move the club through the hitting area. Here we go! Posing impact, hips are open, hands are ahead, right elbows down, here we go! One, two, three, go! And you can see that puts a nice bit of drawer on the ball flight. It's not going to go full distance because it's not a full swing but that is going to help you.
