Martin Hall: Martin Hall here for Five Star Golf Mats. We're with the Perfect ReAction mat, which is a great mat. I'm joined by my friend, Chris, a very good young player indeed, down here in South Florida. Uh, Chris, this is a fantastic mat. Lots of reasons, it – one of my favorites is – it will actually take a tee. So, why don't you just tee this ball up? Very few mats will do that, so it's very lifelike. Now, the drill I want to give you, and drill I want the golfers at home to watch, is the difference between setup and impact. A lot of people think that's the same. You don't, do you?

Chris: No I don't.

Martin Hall: Well, thank goodness for that. You shouldn't think that, uh, but this is the drill. I want you to set your club behind the ball. Now, take, put your feet apart. I want you to lift the club up here, I want you to take the club over there, and turn your hips. Now, stay there. I want you to leave your hips still. I want you to try and leave your chest still, and put the claw back behind the ball. Stay there. Now, look, how old are you, Chris?

Chris: 16.

Martin Hall: Yeah, because he's 16 that's not difficult for Chris to do. For the rest of us, it is difficult. However, you can see that that drill has got the hips nice and open at what would be impact, the chest slightly open at impact, and it might not feel very different to somebody who plays AGGA golf, but for most of us it's a great drill. So there is a big difference between setup and impact. Do you think you can find that as you hit the golf ball for me, Chris?

Chris: Sure.

Martin Hall: Okay, so we want to be more open at impact than we were at setup. Here we go! Not bad at all. it's a little bit of a power fade, which I like – good for consistency – but so important that you understand the difference between setup and impact. That is going to help you!
